As a type 1 diabetic Thea decided to forgo creating desserts with honey. This is because a tablespoon of honey actually has more carbohydrates in it than a tablespoon of granulated sugar. Infact, a tablespoon of honey is filled with 19 grams of sugar while a tablespoon of granulated sugar is filled with 15 grams. Although honey has been proven to break down better during the digestion process, it still has the same affect on diabetics as regular granulated sugar, it raises the blood sugar. Therefore, at The Perfect Day Cakes several different sugar substitutes are used to allow people with all types of diabetes an easier time to calculate food carbohydrates and stay within their meal plan. All sugar free desserts that leave The Perfect Day Cakes include the number of servings and the number of carbohydrates in each serving. This is to help diabetics maintain a healthy lifestyle while still having the opportunity to taste a little bit of the sweet stuff.
